During 2007 we have built on the success of last year to further establish the courses in Traditional Upholstery and have been delighted with their growing popularity. Again we have been impressed with the success of the diploma and with the continuing success of those who have used it as a springboard into business. blank

Gill came in summer 2007 to add upholstery to her creative talents and began her six week course with a beautiful Victorian salon suite which she covered with stunning silk damask by Lelievre. She completed with a Victorian drop arm sofa covered in Mulberry Flying Ducks. In Spring Louise came to retrain in traditional upholstery ready to start a business. She completed a range of projects including a prie-Dieu (French prayer chair), a double drop end sofa and a captain's chair. She is now successfully running her own upholstery business. Vien le Wood an award winning textiles graduate from Glasgow School of Art complemented her design skills by learning the techniques of hand crafted traditional upholstery. Her diverse projects included a wing backed chair covered in vintage curtain fabric, finished with hand embroidered detail.
