An introduction to our Courses and Workshops
If you've always wanted to tackle traditional upholstery, now's your chance to learn.
Our courses aim to teach time honoured, traditional skills using tools, materials and techniques that have developed since the first upholsterer decided to attach fabric and stuffings to stools back in the 1600s. Whether you are a beginner learning basic skills or further existing developing skills our courses will be tailored to your needs.

As a fully functioning workshop we have a team of skilled upholsterers who will welcome you and support your learning alongside the course leader. This working environment also enables you to see a variety of projects in progress and to gain an understanding of how the skills you are learning can be transferred to other projects.
From 2011 we will also be offering our workshops in the Lot/Dordogne region of France where students can learn skills traditional to French furniture while enjoying the best of the region’s food, drink and rural life.
Kendal School of Upholstery is a recognised Training Centre for the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft furnishers (AMUSF) offering accredited Level 2 and 3 Craft Certificates in Upholstery Skills.
